Real Wedding Inspiration – Crimson Edge Events

Today’s Real Wedding Inspiration was beautifully coordinated by the amazing team from Crimson Edge Events. This exquisite wedding of Claudia and Patrice Gallion was hosted at the gorgeous Babylonstoren Wedding Venue and was captured by the talented Drikus Le Roux Photography. The dynamic team from Crimson Edge Events did an amazing job with this organic and out of the box wedding theme.

What made you choose your wedding venue? What was your venue short list?

We are actually from Germany and got engaged in Cape Town in 2013. Right after the engagement we had this crazy idea to bring the wedding down to South Africa. We took about 2 days looking at several venues before flying back to Germany. We had to choose between Delaire Graff Estate, Clouds Estate, La Petite Dauphine, La Petite Ferme and finally Babylonstoren. We had already fallen in love with La Petite Ferme while having lunch there one day. Unfortunately they would only do weddings in winter time. Babylonstoren was the last venue we visited and we were thrilled as we looked around the farm just before sunset. It was basically a 20 minutes decision, we didn’t even see the venue rooms, but we saw enough to fall in love with the venue.

Choosing your photographer is always a tricky part in the wedding planning process, how did you decide on Drikus Le Roux Photography?

Basically by looking at different blogs and websites. We looked at about 20-30 photographers and eventually ended up with Drikus Le Roux as he captured just the perfect happy moments with an amazing clearness in his images. He seemed to be the right one for us. Awesome guy by the way.

You had a beautiful dress!! Tell us more about it! The designer, the fit, your favourites etc.

The day I bought my dress, I actually just wanted to have a look at materials, fits and find out what style I like, but the chemistry with the retailer and the right setting made me buy the dress the same day with approval from my dad. I tried on about 5 dresses and it ended up being the 4th one. It was all I wanted, very natural and soft with a beautiful back.

Why did you decide on using a Coordinator for your Wedding? What made you choose the Coordinator?

We needed a coordinator, because we were more than 9000 km away and we didn’t want to take too much of a risk in planning everything from such a far distance. While most of the planning and booking was done by ourselves via emailing to service providers, we had Samantha from “Crimson Edge Events” at the wedding all day to make sure everything would run smoothly. Eventually she ended up helping us out on many details as it got closer to the wedding. Thumbs up for Crimson Edge Events.

How does your wedding reflect your personalities?

We both loved the colour scheme of mint-blue and white. We are both very laid back, we also didn’t want the wedding style to be too posh. The farm feel of Babylonstoren was a perfect backdrop for our organic style wedding that completely represented us. We also wanted it to have an African touch, so the marimba band as well as the singer and the whole surrounding made it perfect.

What every Bride should know:

Take your time, listen to yourself and never forget it’s all about your future husband and you. Make the day as much fun as possible and as pretty as you want it. I have learned never to forget that your wedding day is the beginning of a new adventure and not the last day of your life. Life is not perfect just let it flow.
